WE'RE ALIVE!!!!!

I know, I know, it's been forever since we last posted!  We're still out here, pluggin' along.

LOTS to talk about!

Heather is healing well.  Still moving slowly, but who wouldn't be after a surgery like that!  Two surgeries in 4 months would take a toll on anyone!  The day before her surgery I received a call from my Doctor with the lovely information that I am diabetic.

SO......with all of this new information in hand, along with the lousy economy here, (people are just not spending money), we have made the decision to downsize, move out of our shop and into The Market here in OKC.  A gift and design type venue where you can rent a small space and not have to be there every day.  Ours will be a 12x12 space.  Hopefully this will give us both the time we need to regain our health and sanity and spend time with our families and of course our little T-man who has had problems of his own this year.  We do feel a certain amount of sadness but also the decision has brought us a lot of peace of mind.  Now....if we can just get everything moved!

On to some fun stuff!

Our beautiful blog baby Payton is growing like a weed.  Getting cuter and cuter every time we see her!  Such a happy baby!  Lucky Mom!

Love this canvas that Heather painted for my Grand daughter Allyson in California!  Happy birthday Ally!

DSCN3106

I haven't been doing much decorating lately but have to rearrange and move stuff around at least a little bit!

DSCN3115 DSCN3114

I recently redecorated this vignette.  I put all of my mercury glass in one spot and added a few mirrored frames.  It still looked a little "flat" to me so I added the green mossy bust.  Of course he had to sport a little bling!

DSCN3116 DSCN3117

We just received the bottles with the crystal stoppers and will be offering these for sale.  We just need the time to revamp the for sale portion of our blog and we'll hopefully be paying more attention to that in the future.

DSCN3118

Love my domes.  I change things under them quite often.

DSCN3119

Rearranged this tray and sat my lamp on it.  I love the way it turned out.

DSCN3121

She's my newest addition.  I just can't get enough of artist mannequins and Santos!

Our yard has also been a work in progress lately!  I'm lucky to have a hubby who doesn't mind helping.  Well....most of the time.

Work in progress.....

DSCN3122

There used to be a hot tub here.  We're going to fill in the hole with dirt, top it with pea gravel and sit the fountain on top.  It's sitting on top of the barrel now only to give us an idea of scale.

DSCN3124

I brought home a big seven foot farm table from the store and am using it on my back deck.  I'll have to water proof it and find chairs and such to go around it.  More pics on this later!

DSCN3133 DSCN3134

No one bought this beautiful planter during our big sale so their loss was my gain!  See what they lost out on!

DSCN3126 DSCN3127

I've just gotta find something for that urn!

DSCN3128

I love this shady spot!  I recently planted cat mint here and my kitty loves it!  I can find him in this bed most evenings nibbling away!

I finally got the Japanese Red Maple that I've wanted for years!  It's a good size and only $60.00 at Sams!

DSCN3136

The Crepe Myrtle are blooming away here!

If you want something that grows well in the Oklahoma heat, Periwinkles are the answer!

DSCN3139

Happy 4th of July!  One of my favorite plants in the front.  Sweet potato vine!  It grows like crazy either in pots or as a ground cover!

DSCN3142

Hope this post will keep you entertained for awhile!  We miss everyone in blog land and will be back full time before you know it!  I'm going on vacation next weekend and between vacation and  moving the shop I'm not sure we will get anything posted before then!  But we're still here and will be back in full force with some great new ideas and more time to post and play before you know it!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

A BETTER DAY!

Today is a wonderful day!  Heather had her surgery yesterday and everything went GREAT!

My poor  baby is going to be REALLY sore for quite awhile!  They started her incision from  just below her belly button down and that wasn't even close to being large enough so they just had to keep cutting up and up and up above her belly button.  I'm guessing the incision is about 12" long!  No kidding!  When they finally pulled the mass out it was NOT as big as a basketball, it was as big as a BEACH BALL!!   The mass weighed 18 pounds!  Talk about instant weight loss!  Unbelievable!  It was pushing all of her internal organs up and was wrapping around on each side towards her spine!  It apparently had been growing rapidly within just the last two weeks because that was when she REALLY began to notice the size of her tummy  was getting bigger and bigger and she was having a lot of difficulty breathing.  Anyway.......it's gone now, unfortunately so is her only ovary as that is where it was attached, but then there's nothing we can do about that!  We are left wondering why the first surgeon who did her hernia surgery did not find that something was wrong.  Especially considering that she went back to him eight weeks after the surgery and told him that she just felt like things were not right.  At this point, I'm just hoping that her recovery goes quickly!

07_20_06_1911 07_08_06_2043 Hang in there Hesbo!  You'll be looking like this again before you know it!

As I am sure I have said before, things like this certainly make you take a second look at what is important in your life!  I just wish God didn't find it necessary to keep reminding us!  Enough is enough already!  T-man is breaking out in hives again (this began before the Heather ordeal)  the air conditioner in my car broke and one of the air conditioners in my house broke last night.  These things never happen during the week when it's easy to reach a repair man!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!  I know ours just got a lot better!

TODAY!

This was a hard one to title!  Today is a weird day, but not NEARLY as weird as yesterday was!

Yesterday morning, Heather received the news from her Doctor that she has............and get this............a mass in her stomach the size of a BASKETBALL!  Needless to say we are all crazy with worry.  We finally just closed the shop yesterday and went shopping.  The stress was just more than we could handle.  She's scheduled for surgery early Friday morning and we are hoping and praying that the outcome is favorable!  This all started after her hernia surgery four months ago.  The swelling just never seemed to go down.  At an eight week post op visit she expressed concern over the size of her tummy and was told that it would take about six months for the swelling to go down.  Obviously this mass has been growing and growing since then to the point where people were beginning to ask her when her baby was due.  Not too funny when you know you're not pregnant.

New surgeon this time.  This Doctor is a woman and certainly seems to have more compassion and explains things better so Heather is feeling good about that part at least.

Needless to say, lots of crying going on around here the last two days!

Heather is trying very hard to get some custom painting finished before surgery.

A couple of new lamps arrived.  We just can't seem to get everything at once from this company.

DSCN3085

LOVE this crackled tray!

DSCN3089

A few new vignettes to keep us busy.  We're just not in the mood right now!  We'll let you know the outcome of the surgery Saturday or Monday.  Please say a prayer for my baby girl!

OUR LITTLE WIZARD

DSCN3064 Day TWO of school projects!  The kids were having a medieval feast today and it was mandatory for them to dress in costume.  T-man choose a wizard which really wasn't too surprising because he is really into Super Heroes and fantasy type figures.

DSCN3058

Okay......so the beard looks a little moth eaten! T-man thought he was just too cool!  He was the only wizard in the fourth grade!

DSCN3067

The court jester!

DSCN3080

Too cute!

DSCN3081

Great knight costume Mom!

DSCN3068

T-mans castle was so BIG it wouldn't even fit in the display!

And now.........it's all over!  Thank goodness!

Have a happy Wednesday!

SCHOOL PROJECTS

Don't you just LOVE those school projects that your kids bring home?  You know, the ones that from the instructions you are given, seem to be WAY above their grade level.  Well.....T-man brought home one such project recently.  His fourth grade class had been studying medieval architecture and so on and their project was to build a castle.  There were certain requirements like a moat, bailey, battlements, keep, turrets, and so on.  This is where being the Grandma is REALLY  great because I didn't have to help him!  Heather on the other hand.......HA HA HA!!  Pay backs I tell ya!

DSCN3027

The finished project!  Keep in mind that it was in the back of an SUV and covered the ENTIRE back end of the car!

DSCN3028 DSCN3029

DSCN3032

Good job Heather.....I mean T-man!

I sure hope you get an "A" on your project!

Here are a few of the other castles in T-mans class.  About a third of the size of his.  I think he and Mom got a bit carried away!

DSCN3036

So cute!  I think they raided the bathroom supply closet!

DSCN3037

DSCN3038

Made from a Styrofoam ice chest!  Very clever!

DSCN3048 DSCN3051

This one was made entirely of food!  Yummy!

So there you have it!  If you ever need to make a castle for any reason, you have plenty of ideas!

.....................................................................................................................

Heather had been telling me about these crazy dogs near T-mans baseball field.  They apparently climb up on the roof every evening and watch what's going on in the neighborhood!  I've certainly never seen anything like this!

Have a happy Tuesday!

GiVe it A tRy!

Put a paint brush in my hand, and I'll do just fine!  Sit me in front of this computer, or put a pen and paper in front of me...I go blank!

Soooooooo...I'm giving this blog thing a try while mom is out of town!

We never know the love of the parent until we become parents ourselves! (by unknown)

How true is this saying?  Now that I'm a parent myself...I feel I know the true meaning behind it all!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out in the blog world!

995399-155

I feel I have the best of both worlds...I have by far the GREATEST....and the COOLEST mom...EVER!  We get alone so well that we work together everyday!  Most people ask me how I can "stand" to work with my mom EVERYDAY...that's so hard for me to answer, because I can't  imaging NOT having the relationship that I do with my mom!  I guess what I'm trying to say is that  my mom is also MY BEST FRIEND!  I can't say enough about her to let you know how great she really is! She's been there for me though so many things...I don't know that I could even tell her how much she means to me!  Ok, enough rambling on...now to show you the most fabulous thing that my son made me for Mother's Day this year!

DSCN3020 DSCN3021

My hand made card!  I LOVE the zebra "H", and the cute little dragon fly inside!

PLANNING VACATION

Summer is well on the way and we've been planning our vacation again.  Where to go.......what to do?

It used to be so much easier.  You know.....in my "younger" years.  Wanta take a trip to the beach or go on a cruise?  No problem.  I was PROUD to expose all of that flesh in a skimpy bathing suit!  There was a lot less of me and everything was positioned where it was supposed to be!  My favorite bikini was a little chocolate brown crocheted number with a touch of extra yarn in all of the "right" places.  I could gracefully rise up out of the pool after a little dip, tug on my top just a little to put everything back where it belonged, and be well on my way, knowing that all of those stares were for the RIGHT reason!

Today......it's a little different.  Okay, okay it's a LOT different!  If I wanted a cute chocolate brown crocheted bikini it would take 10 women 10 days with reinforced yarn to knit it!  If I gracefully rose up out of the water after a little dip, the water level would go down at least a foot!  And as for a little tug on my top....HA HA!  That's one biiiiiggg tug on the left side and one liiiitttle tug on the right side where I had the lumpectomy and then a HUUUGGE tug on the bottom to pull up all that extra tummy!  And ooohhh the stares!  They would be more stares of horror than anything else.

So......being big into the public service thing, I'll NOT be going to the beach of on a cruise.  Everyone can relax!

Maybe that's where the motorcycle thing originated.  I (subconsciously) realized that the more flesh that's covered the better for everyone!  Jeans and tee shirts, that's the way to go!  In the winter you're even covered in black leather, the worst you can look like is a giant burnt marshmallow!

Final decision....................it's back to the mountains for us again this summer!

DSCN0265 DSCN0178 DSCN0270

So in mid July it's another epic motorcycle trip for us!  I swear I've had two or three less hot flashes today just thinking about that cold mountain air!  LOL!

Watch out Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.....HERE WE COME!!!

Denise

Nothing like a birthday party to make you finish those little  decorating jobs around the house that you've been putting off!

DSCN2921 DSCN2922

First.....finish up those projects that you've promised customers.  Isn't this a cute desk?!

Then.......finish up those projects at home.

DSCN2967 DSCN2970 DSCN2969

Take time out to love on the kitties!  Uuuhhh what's up with the green eyes!

Thheeeennn..... on Saturday night, the night before the party......be sure and have your car stolen out of your driveway in the middle of the night!  It keeps things SOOO interesting.

DSCN2925

Call friends on Sunday morning for a ride to pick up the birthday cake.  Get to the bakery and find out it's not the one that you ordered!

DSCN2927

Have a bunch of silly kids invade you house for the party!

DSCN2932 DSCN2940

Have the birthday boy open gifts and everyone eat cake on any surface that you can find because the tables you were going to use are in the back of the stolen car.

DSCN2939

Fortunately......the new trampoline was not!  Only two at a time please kids!

Spend the rest of the day canceling credit cards and so on that were in your wallet that you left either in the car or the garage which the thieves got into with your garage door opener.

Have all of the locks re-keyed because you left your keys in the garage sitting on the washer.  Nothing like making it easy to steal your car.

Spend the rest of the day and night thanking God that they didn't try to come in the house while you were sleeping.

Happy Birthday T-Man!
